Meg Myers made a hotly anticipated appearance at 9:30 Club recently in support of her new album, TZIA, released in March via Sumerian Records.
The alt-pop diva came to dance, and the audience danced along with her! Katherine Gaines was there to photograph the show.
On May 7 at 9:30 Club, Meg Myers performed a set that drew heavily from TZIA. She performed the title track in the middle of the show and built the show on 12 of the record’s 15 tracks, leaving about five or six additional tracks drawn from other albums or cover songs.
In a review for Sputnik Music, staff writer Trey observes, “For better or worse, TZIA is the sound of a free Meg Myers performing however she wants over whatever she wants about whatever she wants without fear or interference. Basically, TZIA is an album of dichotomies both musically and lyrically. She’s abrasive in her vulnerability, she’s quirky and off-kilter yet completely serious about the subject matter, she’s angry yet optimistic, and while she doesn’t seem to trust people, she does want to help them.”
Meg has capitalized on her striking album cycle style (white hair and makeup) to release a great clutch of music videos. About a month ago, Meg Myers released a music video for “A New Society,” a song she performed early at 9:30 Club on May 7.

Meg performed two songs from debut album Sorry — the title track and “Desire,” which closed the main set of the show. She drew one track each from sophomore full-length record Take Me to the Disco and EP Daughter in the Choir.
Pointing to some of her musical influences, Meg covered two songs in concert — “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” by Kate Bush early in the show and “Numb” by Linkin Park after the first third of the setlist. Yes, Meg Myers contains multitudes!
