For the first time since 2018, Pixies are on a massive, multi-leg North American tour that heads to DC on June 6 at The Atlantis and June 10 at The Anthem.

Both dates are sold out!

These upcoming dates are part of the finale for the band’s 2022-2023 World Tour, which is in support of their latest album, the critically-acclaimed Doggerel, released this past September via BMG. Even with the new tunes, one Pixies show is never the same as the next as the band changes their set list every night, pulling from the vast catalog, and with setlist decisions made onstage, so it truly promises to be a special show.

Their latest album Doggerel boasts a couple of “Pixies firsts”: As opposed to building rough song ideas in the studio, as has been the band’s years-long norm, frontman Black Francis turned up to these sessions with 40 new songs prepared. Plus, guitarist Joey Santiago — for the first time in some 35 years — contributed his first two Pixies songwriting credits, with music for “Dregs of Wine” and lyrics for “Pagan Man.” Recording it during the pandemic also played a pivotal role — the downtime prompted Black Francis to enter the studio with new songs, Joey to try his hand at writing Pixies music, drummer David Lovering to both perform his beloved card magic and play his kit better than he can ever remember, and bassist Paz Lenchantin to do copious amounts of surfing, hiking, movie-making, and expanding her business horizon.

Watch the official lyric video for “Doggeral” by Pixies on YouTube:

While Pixies have been acclaimed as the most influential, pioneering band of the late ’80s alt/rock movement, having blazed the trail for artists from Nirvana to Radiohead to Pearl Jam, today, a whole new generation of music fans are discovering their iconic “loudquietloud” signature sound. Since the late 1980s, they have been releasing music that has been as confrontational as it is exciting and pop-savvy. The band has breathed life into some of the most iconic songs of our time: “Monkey Gone to Heaven,” “Here Comes Your Man,” “Hey,” “Bone Machine,” “Wave of Mutilation,” and “Where Is My Mind,” the Pixies’ song that is as epic as was the final scene of the controversial film “Fight Club,” which featured the number!

At The Anthem on June 10, Pixies are supported by Franz Ferdinand and Bully. Now, that is quite a powerful bill!

The show is sold out.
