Maryland’s Jonathan Sloane Brings Versatility and Passion to the American Roots Music Scene

Jonathan Sloane is a remarkable and incredibly versatile guitarist, songwriter, and performer who brings an impressive range of skills to the American music scene. Based in the Washington DC Metro area, Sloane’s sound intricately blends genres like blues, Americana, soul, and rock into a unique and captivating musical experience.

The Jonathan Sloane Trio next performs at Rams Head on Stage (opening Jamie McLean) on Saturday, August 26, and Hank Dietle’s Tavern on Thursday, August 31.

Sloane’s immaculate command of both rhythm and lead guitar has made him a sought-after session player and touring guitarist for several major names in roots rock and beyond. He has had the pleasure of sharing stages with artists including Amy Helm, Billy Strings, Butch Trucks, Daryl Davis, George Porter Jr., Greensky Bluegrass, Ivan Neville, Jackie Greene, Tab Benoit, Samantha Fish, Phil Lesh, Cris Jacobs, and many more across the USA.

His debut album, Alive and Well (2018), showcases his exemplary vocal range and skillful guitar work across genres. Sloane is currently working on a follow-up album due for release in 2023.

Fans have also come to know Sloane through his recent writing and performing collaborations with Anders Osborne. He appeared on the “Orpheus and the Mermaids” acoustic duo record and tours extensively with Osborne nationwide.

Additionally, Sloane is an original member of Yellow Dubmarine, a popular Baltimore-based reggae-dub tribute band, further evidencing his artistic versatility. He also has years of experience touring and recording with renowned Baltimore musician Cris Jacobs.

When he’s not performing on stage or in the studio, Sloane enjoys mentoring and teaching fellow guitarists. With decades of experience under his belt, Jonathan Sloane demonstrates an unwavering passion for music that knows no bounds.

His upcoming projects are sure to continue showcasing his technical skills and creative spirit, including shows with the Jonathan Sloane Trio at Rams Head on Stage on August 26 and Hank Dietle’s Tavern on August 31. The trio features Sloane on guitar, Robbie Cooper on bass, and Deren Blessman on drums. Deeply rooted in the blues yet expanding across genres, the Jonathan Sloane Trio promises an eclectic and captivating performance.
