Get ready to rock for a great cause at the upcoming Rock and Roll for the Children 2024 charity concert on Saturday, March 9, at The Fillmore Silver Spring. Headlining this year’s event is the legendary classic rock band Foghat, featuring founding member and drummer Roger Earl.
Earl explained that the band is excited to be playing at this event. “We have been wanting to do something like this to help children and their families for a long time. This is something the band really cares about.”
Foghat is sure to bring down the house with their iconic blues-infused rock songs like “Slow Ride” and “Fool for the City.” They will also be playing some songs from their new album Sonic Mojo, which was their first ever No. 1 billboard blues album. And this year, The Rock and Roll for the Children Foundation will be auctioning off the actual Ludwig drum kit Roger Earl used to record Foghat’s 1994 album, Return of the Boogie Men. The kit will be one of the many items up for bid in the charity auction benefiting children’s causes.

Other auction highlights include two Taylor Swift-autographed guitars with certificates of authenticity, autographed guitars from Foghat, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Bruce Spingsteen, The Rolling Stones, and more.
Check the full auction list for all the rockin’ memorabilia as well as other great items.
All proceeds from the evening will go to The Childrens’ Inn at the National Institutes of Health, supporting children’s health, education, and welfare. As founder and co-chair Jon Belinkie states, “We have raised over a million dollars for kids charities with about half a million going to The Children’s Inn at NIH. We have been giving to them exclusively for a number of years…The Children’s Inn at NIH is one of the most special places I have ever been.”
There will be three bands and at least one special guest entertaining the audience. A huge supporter and board member Christine Ohlman, nicknamed “The Beehive Queen” because of her distinctive platinum beehive up-do will also be making a return appearance. She will be sitting in for some songs with both Foghat and Baltimore-area band Mojo Sun, featuring acclaimed saxophonist Ron Holloway.
Opening for Foghat is Mojo Sun, setting the stage along with ultimate Fleetwood Mac tribute band Tusk for a night of classic rock hits.
So come on out for a night of great music for an even greater mission! Be sure to check back with Parklife DC to read an exclusive interview with the legendary Foghat drummer Roger Earl.
