Steel Panther’s recent concert at Club XL in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was a raucous celebration of glam metal, delivering everything fans expected from this outrageous band: blistering guitar solos, irreverent humor, and a setlist packed with their biggest hits. The night was a wild ride, full of energy and raunchy spectacle.
It was a warm summer night in the state capital on August 27, and fans of all ages, many dressed in ‘80s-inspired attire, were ready for a night of debauchery and rock ‘n’ roll on this date for the Steel Panther On the Prowl 2024 Tour.
Steel Panther hit the stage and opened the night with a cover of Christopher Cross’s “Sailing,” setting a tone that was both unexpectedly low key and humorous.
They quickly shifted gears into their own material, kicking off with “Goin’ in the Backdoor,” a song that perfectly encapsulates their blend of raunchy lyrics and heavy riffs.
Frontman Michael Starr and his band mate Satchel frequently engaged in dirty playful banter, creating a party-like atmosphere that never let up.
Satchel, the band’s guitarist, showcased his musical chops with an extended guitar solo that highlighted his impressive fret board skills.
Their long time drummer Stix Zadinia propelled the music along with his rock steady beat while new bassist, Spyder was frequently teased by the other guys.
Spyder did get the chance to promote his new candy for kids, saying it was sweet and creamy with a center of pure cocaine! To their credit, no one in the crowd gave their kids any of the candy, more than likely intending to keep it for themselves!
The night’s setlist was a mix of classic hits and newer material from their latest album On The Prowl. Songs like “Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)” and “Party All Day (Fuck All Night)” kept the energy high, while “Poontang Boomerang” and “Friends With Benefits” were crowd favorites that had everyone singing along.
Watch the official music video for “Friends with Benefits” by Steel Panther on YouTube:
At one point late in the show, the boys brought a fan up on stage for some raunchy fun and to her credit, she enthusiastically played along, giving as good as she got. After a few minutes of peppering the tipsy young woman with filthy comments, the band brought a few more women up onstage for the song “17 Girls in a Row”.
The songs “Community Property” and “Death to All but Metal” ended the main portion of the set, and the band left the stage for a few moments.
They returned to the stage and for the encore, “Gloryhole,” was a fittingly over-the-top conclusion, with the band going all out to ensure the night ended on a high note.
Steel Panther’s show at Club XL was everything their fans could hope for: loud, fun, and unapologetically crude. The band continues to impress not just with their comedic chops, but also with their undeniable musical talent. Whether you’re there for the laughs, the music, or both, a Steel Panther concert is an experience you won’t forget.
