Chicago’s Friko — led by vocalist/guitarist Niko Kapetan and drummer Bailey Minzenberger — has embarked on their first-ever North American headline tour in support of their 2024 debut album, Where we’ve been, Where we go from here.

Friko perform at Union Stage in DC on Monday, March 3.

Friko recently visited DC to open Royel Otis at 9:30 Club, where DC first got to hear the band’s debut album for the first time. Where we’ve been, Where we go from here — released via ATO Records —  landed on several publications’ best-of-2024 lists, including Pitchfork, Vulture, Consequence, UPROXX, and Paste, who lauded the album as “risky, poetic, sublime and intimate music that, subsequently, fits perfectly into the framework of Chicago’s lineage of boundary-pushing rock ‘n’ roll.”

Following tours with Royel Otis, Mind’s Eye, and Water From Your Eyes last year, and stints in Japan and China, Friko capped off 2024 by selling out a special hometown show at Thalia Hall in Chicago, where a live performance of “Chemical” was captured.

Watch Friko perform “Chemical” live at Thalia Hall on YouTube:

Known for their high-energy live show, Friko aims to deliver a live experience that’s fantastically disorienting in its emotional arc, so this will be a tour not to miss. In Rolling Stone’s words, “Friko [wring] such raw, strained emotion from their songs that if you closed your eyes, you’d be forgiven for thinking Bright Eyes were playing.”
