Willie Nile soon releases a new album (he has an album release show planned for New York City in June), and he’s been on the road introducing some of his new songs into his set. He recently performed live at The Collective Encore, in Columbia, Maryland, and Steve Satzberg was there to photograph the show.
In January, Willie announced a new album to be released on his own independent label. According to Setlist.fm, he played four unrecorded songs at The Collective Encore on April 13: “We Are, We Are,” “An Irish Goodbye,” “Wild Wild World,” and “Fall on Me.”
The rest of Willie’s show drew from albums across his storied catalog. He favored 2020’s New York at Night, including the title track and “Run Free,” which closed his main set. He spent some time in the era of 2009-2013 with selections from House of a Thousand Guitars, The Innocent Ones, and American Ride.
Willie closed his show with a two-song encore, which included “One Guitar” from The Innocent Ones.

For his last encore song, Willie covered “A Hard Day’s Night” by The Beatles.
