Eem Triplin has been hard at work making music since 2018, but he dropped his first full-length studio album in February. He then embarked on the Melody of a Memory Tour for a string of shows to spotlight that album.

The young rapper recently performed at Union Stage in DC, and Chris Castillo was there to photograph the show!

The following article is adapted from a press release.

Since emerging onto the scene with viral hits like “Awkward Freestyle” and “Just Friends,” 24-year-old Eem Triplin has grown into one of rap’s most promising young stars. Entering 2025 on a mission, Eem Triplin officially announced MELODY OF A MEMORY, his debut album, which was released on Feb. 17 via RCA Records. Home to recent singles like “FIJI” ft. Cruza and “CRAZY H*ES,” the upcoming album deepens Eem’s world of ear-teasing melodies and easygoing romance with dreamlike soundscapes.

At Union Stage on June 5, Eem Triplin presented all of these favorites, performing “CRAZY H*ES” early in the show and recruiting a fan to assist him with “FIJI” in the middle. Toward the end of the show, he performed “Awkward Freestyle.”

Watch the official music video for “Fiji” by Eem Triplin on YouTube:

The album was shaped by a team of producers that includes the GRAMMY-winning Dahi (formerly DJ Dahi), who serves as the album’s executive producer, Matthew Castellanos, Charlie Myles, and Eem Triplin himself.

“It’s been a long time coming, but I hope fans know that I’ve been putting a lot of hard work into this album,” said Eem. “I’m excited for the people to finally hear what we’ve been cooking up over the past year or so while I’ve been in the studio with the homies Dahi, Matt, Charlie, and more. This project reveals parts of me that I haven’t shared before, and also shows a side of my sound that I haven’t shown folks yet. I think it shows my evolution as an artist, and I hope people hear that when they tune in.”

Melody of a Memory was Eem Triplin’s first project since his 2023 debut EP, STILL PRETTY. Eem spent the intervening 18 months building a loyal fanbase, performing live as an opener for artists like LUCKI and his good friend $NOT, showing out at festivals like Rolling Loud, and European fests like Clout Festival and Splash! Festival, and performing his first-ever headlining show in his small hometown of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. In 2024, Eem performed his first headlining tour, the STILL PRETTY North American Tour, selling 11,000 tickets across 21 shows (90% sell out), released fan-favorite singles like “stephanie,” and collaborating with Camila Cabello on her song “baby pink.”
