Blondshell came on stage, set her tone, got the crowd support from the onset, and played an excellent show at recently at 9:30 Club. Her ability to set pace and get fans into her set has become a huge part of her presentation and entertainment ability — in addition to her great vocals. Blondshell is currently on tour in the USA in support of her latest release, If You Asked for a Picture.

If I recall correctly, I last saw Blondshell during a set at DC’s Black Cat rock club over a year ago. From then to now she has evolved into a headlining act, and it’s easy to see her upward momentum during her set.

At 9:30 Club on June 24, Daffo, fronted by Gabbi Gamberg, were an excellent choice for opening band for Blondshell. The band provided insightful lyrics, strong vocals, and great music for their set, which was well received by the audience. (It could have added an additional song or two!) Daffo soon release their first ever album this September, tenatively titled Where the Earth Bends. Daffo, from Philadelphia, presents a easy, vibrant vibe on stage, very talkative and communicative with the audience. The band’s music went over very well at 930 Club, and it will be great to follow her during the upcoming record release.

Blondshell’s sold-out show was outstanding, and the concert saw fans highly engaged with both bands throughout the evening. Blondshell, as an entertainer and performer, keeps evolving as she has complete control of her stage set, which features excellent discussions with the crowd, great dancing, movement, and vocals. Her ability to get the crowd involved is exceptional and will grow even more profound with continual touring.

Blondshell’s setlist included some of her best tracks: “Toy,” “Docket,” “Sepsis,” “Veronica Mars,” “Arms,” “T&A,” “Change,” “Tarmac,” “He Wants a Kiss,” and “Salad,” among others. The reception from songs from the new album went over exceptionally well!

Blondshell finished up this US tour, and she soon heads to Europe in July. Many dates on the current tour and upcoming dates are already sold-out. Blondshell returns to the USA in September, where the band will play All Things Go Musical Festival in New York City!
