The night started off with a BOOM!, as confetti cannons showered the sold-out crowd at The Fillmore Silver Spring, and NxWorries opened up their DMV stop on their Why Lawd? 2025 Tour. The super-duo featuring multitalented vocalist Anderson .Pakk and music producer Knxwledge are finally on tour in support of their Grammy-winning album Why Lawd?  from 2024. The guys trickled out singles for almost two years leading up to the album’s actual release, but it definitely lived up to expectations when the project finally dropped.

Now, a year after its release, the guys have finally embarked on tour to let their fans experience the full live show.

At The Fillmore Silver Spring on Sept. 30, NxWorries opened the night up with an animated video that played along with the album’s intro “ThankU” that features an anecdote from comedian Dave Chappelle. The video had the guys riding the car smoking with Dave as he told his story. White confetti shot out of the cannons raining down on the entire room as the lights came up and the fellas popped out on stage and got into the albums first full track “86Sentra.”

Knxwledge’s head and shoulders barely peaked out over top of his turntables and the massive screen decorating the stage, while Paak grooved his way out on to stage in an all black suit (shirtless of course) with a white scarf and a matching black furry crown. Anderson shouted out the DMV and introduced himself and Knxwledge as hyped up the crowd and thanked everyone for selling the place out on their first ever national tour.

The guys jumped back and forth between Why Lawd? and their 2016 first album, Yes Lawd! throughout the entire night. Mixing in tracks like “Kutless,” “Lyk Dis,” and a shortened version of my personal favorite from that project, “Get Bigger / Do U Luv,” with newer songs like “Distractions,” “MoveOn,” and “KeepHer,” which included a futuristic, digital version of Thundercat (who is featured on the song) performing on screen along with the guys. Pakk had a crazy, unstoppable energy all throughout the night. He danced across every inch of the stage as if he were in his bedroom at home, jamming out all on his own. By the time they got to their hit record “Where I Go” featuring HER, the party was in full swing. The guys even brought opening act, Rae Khalil, back to help them out for “OutTheWay.”  as she’s featured on the track.

Knxwledge let the room know they were the first show so far where people were singing their hearts out for every song, sending the crowd into an uproar of cheers. Pakk left the stage for a quick breather before returning with a Chanel bag filled to the top with red roses. He tossed the roses out to ladies in the crowd as he performed “SheUsed,” getting to the bottom of the bag just in time to get in his ’60s soul ballad with “From Here.”

Watch the official music video for “FromHere” by NxWorries featuring Snoop Dogg and October London on Youtube:

Anderson left the stage once again and Knxwledge took over turning the concert into a club for a good 15 minutes. The man behind the music went crazy, mixing artists like Outkast and Anita Baker over Drum & Bass and old jazz and soul samples. He wrapped his set up to roars from the crowd as he let everyone know he could DJ all night.

Paak returned in a white version of the exact same suit he’d previously had on, furry crown included, and fired up the crowd before getting into the final part of the night.  The guys took things all the way back to their beginning performing some of their very first singles like “Link Up,” “Droogs” and “Suede,” while also finding time to do a cover of Whitney Houston’s classic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.” A train of girls were pulled from the crowd to dance on stage with Anderson as they performed their newest single “Everybody Gets Down.” He definitely enjoyed himself before thanking the ladies and hilariously leading them back off stage. He climbed up to the top of the screen with Knxwledge and thanked the DMV before another confetti blast closed show out as they performed probably my favorite NxWorries record “Daydreaming.”

I heard they came back out for an encore — but unfortunately I was already out the doors.

There are less than 10 shows left in the Why Lawd 2025 Tour before the fellas wrap things up in Los Angeles later this month.

Make sure you grab your tickets before it ends, it’s a Grammy-worthy show for sure.
