Important Capital One Arena Construction Updates Ahead of Garth Brooks Concerts This Weekend
Superstar entertainer and Country Music Hall of Famer Garth Brooks will bring his Blame It All On My Roots tour to Capital One Arena this weekend for two nights, Friday, Sep. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19. It’s Brooks’ first time playing a full arena concert inside the district proper. His last time playing a major concert in DC was during his 1996 world tour. He stopped in Landover, Maryland, for a run of shows back then.
But as the weekend approaches, fans may notice that the Capital One Arena remains in the midst of heavy remodeling. The arena has remained closed since April for construction. Brooks’ concerts will be its first events since the most aggressive parts of the renovation have begun. We reached out to the team at the arena to ask what fans can expect upon arrival for the shows this weekend and throughout the rest of the 2026-2027 season.

Officials with Monumental Sports and Entertainment assured Parklife that “Operations continue as normal.” However, they caution fans to arrive early for events at . The box office is now permanently located at Clyde’s Alley, replacing the Haagen-Dazs ice cream shop. Doors will open 90 minutes before all events at the venue to facilitate earlier entry.
Officials tell Parklife that all entry points will be in use for events, despite construction fences and equipment remaining in place. The main entrance remains on F street. However, it has been moved closer to 7th street to facilitate quicker access to the Gallery Place Metro station. It has also been widened to make it easier for fans to use. The complete refresh of that entryway–including a new perimeter overhang across three blocks–is expected to be unveiled sometime this season.
Once inside the arena, fans may encounter a reconfigured concession layout. Officials with Monumental Sports and Entertainment tell Parklife, “Select retail and hospitality spaces will operate with modified footprints during construction.”
This includes the Team Store. Wizards and Caps fans can now get their gear at the former District E, located inside the enclosed section of Gallery Place. “Some 100-level concessions may be relocated,” officials continued. “[There may be] temporary impacts to stairwells and restrooms across levels during select phases.” However, we are told these impacts will not affect stairwell or restroom access across the entire arena at once.
Fans in VIP seating should also be aware that, “Certain premium club areas will operate with adjusted layouts as improvements are made.”
Capital One Arena is expected to finish renovations by Fall of 2027.
