The recent Dorian Electra show at the Atlantis started with minor technical difficulties. Two long white sheets hung at the front of the stage, with a spotlight intermittently strobing and zooming in and out. A few people goofily started to OOOH and AHHH coordinated with the change in lighting – and the entire crowd joined in with scattered giggles. This atmosphere perfectly illustrates Electra’s audience and appeal. Everyone was there to have fun and get silly!
Those white sheets served as the main visuals throughout the show on June 19, giving shadows, silhouettes, and drama. The lighting also allowed Electra to see their audience and connect directly. They commented on how much they appreciated getting to see each individual face smiling back at them.
Entertainment is a top priority at a Dorian Electra show, calling back to their drag roots. But behind the glitchy electro beats there is a fabulous voice – showcased when they performed their sweet ode to bdsm, “Give Great Thanks.” That transitioned into a tongue in cheek acoustic version of “Man to Man” called “Woman to Man” in honor of pride month – just to include any straight people in the audience. Everyone was laughing.

The setlist played out like a mixtape with originals and covers flowing together in their signature hyperpop style. The floor shook with the crowd bouncing in unison singing every word back.
From educational videos, to drag, to collaborating with pop superstars, to releasing full albums – Dorian Electra remains their own brand of queer artist, and their fans love them for exactly that reason.
