Last year, The Feelies released In Between, their sixth studio album, via Bar/None. The New Jersey jangle poppers perform songs new and old at 9:30 Club on Friday, June 22 — and you can win tickets to go with Parklife DC!
“On the new record we did a lot of it at my house in my home studio with extra equipment,” said vocalist and founder Glenn Mercer. “It’s the same room where we rehearsed. We’ve been here since we reformed and a little bit prior to taking the hiatus in the 90’s. So it’s a room we’re really familiar with and feel comfortable in. We also did some recording at an engineer’s studio, so it was all done very low key. We refer to it as ‘off the clock’ when you’re not paying an hourly rate, so in that sense it was a lot more relaxed. I don’t think anyone would notice a drastic change in the sound or the vibe of the record. I think it sounds a lot more relaxed and laid back.”
Initially formed in 1976, The Feelies kinda make for a missing like between the Talking Heads and REM in this blogger’s opinion.

Always dug their cover of Dancing Barefoot.
“Away” from the album “Only Life.”
Great choice. I just posted the same!
“Away”, off ‘Only Life’. It’s the quintessential Feelies slow build-up to a frenetic last few minutes.
” the boy with the perpetual nervousness”
Away is a good one!
On the Roof from The Good Earth. Brilliant opener!
So many great songs. I’ll go with Only Life.
The boy with the perpetual nervousness……because I was a boy when I first heard it and I was at least semi-perpetually nervous at the time.
On The Roof!
