Indie rock darlings Bright Eyes returned in 2020 after a nine-year hiatus, and this year the Omaha, Nebraska band is on tour to promote their lastest album, Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was, available now via Dead Oceans! Bright Eyes perform at The Anthem in DC on Saturday, April 9.

Bright Eyes’ most recent releases were three Companion series recordings, part of a larger project to reissue and re-record their entire catalog, “Falling Out of Love At This Volume,” “Contrast And Compare” (feat. Waxahatchee), and “Haligh, Haligh, A Lie, Haligh” (feat. Phoebe Bridgers).

Bright Eyes began in 1995 as a recording moniker for a then 15-year-old Conor Oberst’s work with producer/multi-instrumentalist Mike Mogis. Mogis and composer/ arranger/ multi-instrumentalist Nathaniel Walcott became fully fledged members in 2006. Over the course of 23 years, the music’s impact and influence have been significant; Bright Eyes’ songs have been covered by dozens of artists, including Lorde, The Killers, Mac Miller, Dave Rawlings & Gillian Welch, Phoebe Bridgers, Snow Patrol, Jason Mraz, and beabadoobee.

COVID-19 Rules at The Anthem
Patrons attending Bright Eyes at The Anthem *must* wear a mask.
All patrons must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend events at 9:30 Club, The Anthem, and the Lincoln Theatre. All ticket holders for shows at 9:30 Club, The Anthem, and Lincoln Theatre must show proof of vaccination (along with matching photo ID) before entering the venue. Proof of vaccination can be your physical vaccine card, a photo of your card, or your digital vaccination record using the Bindle app.
Exceptions will only be made for children under 12 who are not yet fully vaccinated, and for those with documented qualifying medical conditions preventing them from becoming vaccinated. For those patrons, a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen laboratory test taken within 48 hours of the show date will be accepted, along with documentation of medical exemption (and matching photo ID). At-home self-tests will not be accepted.
