Actress Maya Hawke is also an accomplished folk musician with two full-length albums to her credit. She released her most recent album, Moss, last year via Mom + Pop. Now, Maya comes to the 9:30 Club for two shows — on Wednesday, March 15, and Thursday, March 16.

Some musicians can shimmer and strut with such a prestige that their recordings serve as a lure to their live performances and speak to their greater ambitions as an artist.

Anyone can see that Cory Wong has been prolific so far in his career, but a close listen to any of the projects he’s either led or been involved with will ultimately reveal an artist diligently and thoughtfully actualizing his vision for modern day funk music.

Following the rapturous reception to their new single “Ghosts Again,” Depeche Mode have added a new Fall leg of North American tour dates to the Memento Mori Tour, which will support Memento Mori, their forthcoming studio album due out March 24. With the addition of these 29 new shows, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductees will now set out on a colossal 75-date tour — their 19th tour and their first in over five years.

The Live Nation-presented tour includes a date at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, on Monday, Oct. 23.

The Blues is a grand institution. Kevin Moore, better known as Keb’ Mo’, is one of today’s most recognizable faces of that institution. He is regal yet approachable, much like The Birchmere, the hallowed venue in Alexandria, Virginia, which he recently visited for two nights. The five-time Grammy Award-winning Compton bluesman performed a sold-out show there on Monday.

At Warner Theatre in DC, the recent performance by singer-songwriters Shawn Colvin, Marc Cohn, and Sarah Jarosz was bittersweet. As Marc explained, the plan had originally been for him and Shawn to tour with David Crosby. But then the Covid epidemic happened, and, meanwhile, Croz was struggling with increasing health problems, and officially retired from touring. And then, last month, he passed away.
