Josh Ritter turned the Lincoln Theatre into a storybook on Nov. 13, unfurling a generous, 1-hour and 45-minute set that balanced literary new songs with long-loved favorites.

Last week at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC, I caught an unforgettable show from Playboi Carti, supporting his newest album, I Am Music. Even before the opening beat dropped, the energy in the venue was unmatched, Carti’s fanbase was less crowd and more cult-like. What followed was a chaotic explosion of light, bass, and bodies.

Earlier this month, Los Angeles City Council officially declared Nov. 7 as Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark Day. Councilmember Monica Rodriguez introduced the resolution, and three members of the quartet attended the hearing at Los Angeles City Hall to receive the proclamation.
In delivering the proclamation, Councilmember Rodriguez cited OMD’s “poetic lyricism, emotional depth, and innovative use of synthesizer hooks in place of a vocal chorus” as hallmarks of the groundbreaking band’s music. And she said a few things about what it meant to her personally.

The Fillmore Silver Spring was already humming before Mammoth even stepped onstage. It was a chilly Tuesday night, but inside the venue, it felt electric. Fans packed tight against the barricade, a mix of longtime Wolfgang followers, younger rock fans and seasoned old timers drawn in by the sheer noise of it all.
Bktherula brought The Lucy Experience East Coast Tour to The Fillmore Silver Spring on Nov. 8, turning the 2,000-cap room into something closer to a fever-dream house party than a conventional rap show.

The North Mississippi Allstars recently transformed The Barns at Wolf Trap into a Southern soul sanctuary — part juke joint, part gospel revival, and wholly alive. Touring in support of their latest album, Still Shakin’ (released June 6 via New West Records), the band rolled into Vienna, Virginia, with the easy confidence of road-tested veterans on their aptly titled Still Shakin’ Tour.
Lera Lynn has been making ethereal, noir-tinged music for a decade and a half. She got her breakthrough when she was cast in the second season of True Detective, working on music for the series with T Bone Burnett and Rosanne Cash. In her recent performance at Pearl Street Warehouse, Lynn showed how she’s she evolved as an artist, while maintaining the core elements of her appeal.
GRAMMY-nominated, Australian electronic icons Cut Copy released their seventh studio album, Moments, in September via Cutters Records / The Orchard.
The band are now on a North American tour that lands at 9:30 Club on Wednesday, Nov. 19.
