Post-punk icons The Psychedelic Furs return to DC for a headlining show at The Anthem on Wednesday, Oct. 15, bringing their atmospheric sound and enduring stage presence to the waterfront. Led by the unmistakable baritone of Richard Butler, The Furs rose from the UK’s late-’70s art rock scene with a moody blend of guitars, saxophone, and cinematic flair that helped define the era’s alternative sound.
The Nationals Park crowd was treated to a dynamic and captivating performance as Chris Brown’s Breezy Bowl XX Tour rolled through Washington DC for a second night this week. The sold-out venue experienced an impressive 2+ hour set that reaffirmed Brown’s reputation as a captivating live performer.
There’s something about a Nashville Pussy show that hits different on a Tuesday night. Maybe it’s because you know damn well you should be home doing something responsible like catching up on emails, walking the dog, pretending to meal prep but instead you’re crammed shoulder to shoulder in a Virginia rock club surrounded by people who made the same bad decision. And thank God for that.
There’s something about a Tuesday night that makes rock and roll feel even grittier. It’s not the weekend crowd, not the casual “let’s grab a drink and see a band” energy. Tuesday shows attract the true believers, the ones who still crave that rush of live amps and sweat-slick guitars no matter what day’s printed on the calendar. And Leesburg’s Tally Ho Theater has quietly become one of those spots where the faithful gather. Earlier, Nashville Pussy scorched the same stage, leaving it still warm for Buckcherry to waltz in and turn the place into a fire hazard.
At CFG Bank Arena, NBA YoungBoy’s MASA TOUR recently delivered an electric performance to a diverse crowd of dedicated fans. The energy inside the arena was unmatched, intensified by the fans’ unmistakable green slime attire. This being a nod to YoungBoy’s “slime” aesthetic and lyrical references. A sea of green apparel, bandanas, and custom-made concert gear filled the venue, uniting attendees in a shared, vibrant display of fandom. Opening acts included Deebaby, Toosie, and Offset.
New wave pioneer Lene Lovich broke out in England with two killer albums — Stateless (1978) and Flex (1979). Those fantastic albums burst with originality and musicality — and she brought them to life with her heart and soul recently in an impressive show at Rams Head on Stage.
After recording those two albums, Lene (who grew up in England after being born in Detroit), recruited British mastermind Thomas Dolby to her band for a short time. Dolby toured with Lovich before striking out for a solo career, and most remarkably during that time, he composed for her a single, “New Toy.”
It was then a good bet that Mr. Dolby might appear at Lene’s Annapolis concert, given that he’s lived more than 10 years in nearby Baltimore.

“I’m Not Dead Yet!” — John Cleese and The Holy Grail at 50

It’s funny how a single sentence can pull an entire room of people together. For John Cleese, it was right there in the title, Not Dead Yet! — part self-deprecating joke, part cultural commentary, and entirely on-brand for the 85-year-old Monty Python legend who still knows how to command a stage.
His recent turn at the Music Center at Strathmore wasn’t just a comedy show, and it wasn’t just a nostalgia trip either. It was like watching a man pick through his own legend with tweezers and occasionally a sledgehammer, laughing all the way through.
T-Pain recently took the stage at The Theater at MGM National Harbor for his TP20 Tour, a celebratory evening dedicated to his 20-year career. The concert was a vibrant tapestry of nostalgia and excitement, drawing fans from all walks of life who have been touched by his music over the years.
