In his recent performance at The Anthem, Dwight Yoakam, the man who’s been hailed as “too country for Nashville,” put on a blistering performance that would’ve shamed most rock bands in its intensity and fervor. He showed once again why he’s a longtime favorite of critics and why he’s attracted a crossover audience of mainstream rock fans.

Buck Meek has a disarming quality to his music. The Texas native has released four solo full-length records in addition to his work with the band Big Thief. But the latest one, released on 4AD records, Big Thief’s label, may be Meek’s best yet. Several of the tracks on Haunted Mountain were co-written with Jolie Holland, who opened his recent sold-out set.

Thankfully, residents of Annapolis don’t have to go all the way to New Orleans to catch the Americana guitarist! He makes regular appearance at Rams Head on Stage, where Steve Satzberg recently photographed Anders in performance.

Jeff Goldblum is a charmer. Whether it’s in the many roles he has played in movies or on Broadway or even as the leader of the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra — named after a friend of his mother’s — he has a way of disarming even the most practiced curmudgeon. And on Thursday night at a crowded Lincoln Theatre, Goldblum and his jazz band spun charm into some real magic.

Chris Smither’s masterful songwriting, anchored in the folk and blues traditions of his hometown, New Orleans, has been attracting discerning music fans for more than five decades. Bonnie Raitt, an accomplished songwriter in her own right, has called him her Dylan, and his songs have been covered by Emmylou Harris and Diana Krall.

In a recent show at DC’s The Hamilton Live, touring behind his latest album, All About The Bones, Smither showed exactly why.

Calling all hotties! This is an event you don’t want to miss. The 2024 Hot Girl Summer Tour featuring Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla recently packed weeks of fun into one electrifying night. As the rain and lightning came in waves recently outside the CFG Bank Arena, Tyler Childers and his band, The Food Stamps, kept things movin’ and groovin’ (and dry) for over two hours.

The Kentucky native brought his Mule Pull ‘24 Tour into Charm City following the release of the critically acclaimed Rustin’ in the Rain released last Fall. The album is that rare kind of magic that feels familiar but new often in the same song. Tunes like “Phone Calls and Emails” sound straight out of the Conway Twitty songbook but in the parlance of modern technology. And although the album, at seven songs and just under a half hour, is short, it packs a lot of emotional punch in that short time.
