The Front Bottoms returned to the area performing a two-part set that included three of their releases played in their entirety. When I arrived at Baltimore Soundstage this past Wednesday for The Front Bottoms show, the line was wrapped around the building. Fans formed a line at least three hours before doors so they would be front and center for this performance! There is no denying that The Front Bottoms have a solid fanbase.

Brian Fallon and the Howling Weather took the stage for a self-described, but also very true, masterly designed set in a sold-out show at 9:30 Club on Saturday.

Mikey Erg (Photo by Toni Skotcher)
Mikey Erg is a punk-rocker from New Jersey who plays some furious guitar!
And the prolific punk released his debut album recently — Tentative Decisions via Don Giovanni Records. He did so after performing with a mess of other bands, including The Ergs!.
On the second and latest single from the album, Mikey spits about lost love in a track called “Apart Time.”
Listen to the audio for “Apart Time” by Mikey Erg on YouTube:
The first track from Tentative Decisions was the mocking, clever “Comme Si About Me,” a play on words referencing the French phrase for “like this.” I’m going to be bold and say that Mikey sounds a bit like a very young (angry) Elvis Costello on the track (and he strikes a similar figure with his lanky frame and glasses). Mikey is touring to support the album, and he comes to DC9 on Sunday, June 26, filling out a big bill as an opening act for Hemlines.
Remember how we said Mikey is prolific? Well, Mikey is also the drummer for Worriers, a post-punk band fronted by Lauren Denitzio, and Worriers also are opening for Hemlines. Worriers released a new record Imaginary Life last year via Don Giovanni.
Tickets are available online.

Well, DC United lost their home game last Sunday, 1-0. But they are not out yet. No. They play at Red Bull Arena (in Harrison, New Jersey) this Sunday, November 8th. Winner of the home-away series advances to the Eastern Conference Finals.
A 1-0 victory by the United ties the series and sends it to a 30 minute overtime, and then penalty kicks if still tied. A 2-0 or 2-1 victory, and your United advances! Needless to say, a loss is not acceptable.
Since the New York Red Bulls aren’t too far away, consider a road trip this weekend and support your team.
Tickets can be purchased through the Screaming Eagles here or through La Barra Brava here.
