Krewella brought their energy with them on this Sweatbox Tour performance last Thursday at a sold-out U Street Music Hall!
The tour name does it justice as you can see the blood, sweat, and tears they put into their music. The Chicago duo was joined by their touring drummer, Frank Zummo, who had breathtaking solos and kept up with the consistently fast-paced beats dropped by Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf — aka Krewella!
EDMit it review: 8.5/10
The scene was set at U Street Music Hall as we welcomed Krewella, the exciting electropunk duo, to the nation’s capital. Yazzy and Jahan, Krewella, are now a sister act, but the group was once a trio until 2012, when third member Rain Man resigned. That’s when things really started getting exciting.
Since then, the sisters have dropped their debut album Get Wet and recently their Ammunition EP, alongside several other singles. The six-track EP has great singles like “Beggars” and “Broken Record” that point to a strong future for good music by Krewella.
Preview Ammunition, released via Columbia Records in May, by Krewella over at Soundcloud:

This LIVE show was more than I expected from previous Krewella performances I’ve attended, and I loved it. There was a slight heavy metal sound cast throughout the set — a mix they were capable of incorporating into their diverse sound. The crowd loved it as well! Everyone went from all-out head banging to a serene restful tone as the Yousaf sisters closed out with their more soothing tracks including their classic hit “Alive” in their encore performance!

Remarkably, after their sold-out performance at U Street Music Hall last Thursday, Krewella went on to perform a late night DJ set at Soundcheck. Talk about energy!
Final Word: If you have the chance to catch a live set from Krewella, especially during their Sweatbox Tour… GO! You will not regret it!
Until next time, guys!
