In the months after the passing of Prince, many of his friends and collaborators launched tours and paid tribute to his memory. Top among those friends is Morris Day, who has been on a roll with his band The Time, recently visiting Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club for a pair of shows.
The ever-stylish Morris, however, hasn’t played in the city for a spell. Thankfully, he’s changing that with an upcoming performance at the Howard Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 28!
Of course, Morris will always be remembered for his long friendship and association with Prince, which culminated in their collaboration on the movie Purple Rain. Morris Day and The Time scored two hits with their contributions to Purple Rain — “Jungle Love” and “The Bird.” Both songs have been on the band’s set list lately!

I saw Morris Day and The Time in October, and they were funky and fabulous. Of the show I wrote, “Morris charmed everyone, occasionally praising the memory of his late friend Prince and occasionally talking directly to the audience.”
Don’t miss them this month! The general admission show guarantees we will have room to dance (although you can reserve a table if you prefer)! Tickets are available online.
