DC beer bar ChurchKey (1337 14th St. NW, DC) took top honors as a Great American Beer Bar in a survey conducted by CraftBeer.com, announced the Brewers Association on Tuesday.

“CraftBeer.com readers understand what sets a beer bar apart and have continually shown up since 2012 to recommend and praise their favorite spots,” said Julia Herz, publisher of CraftBeer.com. “With more than 7,000 votes cast, we are excited to announce this year’s winners and proud to welcome back 21 (41 percent) 2016 winners to the list — a sign that craft beer bars, now more than ever, are committed to their patrons and ensuring the best overall experience.”

ChurchKey also won the honor in the 2016 list. CraftBeer.com readers nominated beer bars in each state, and they filled surveys about what makes for a great beer bar, including atmosphere, staff, beer selection, and special events. Readers cast more than 7,000 votes between a period of Nov. 15 to Dec. 31, 2016.

Founded in 2009 by the Neighborhood Restaurant Group, ChurchKey offers 50 beers on tap plus five specialized casks alongside nearly 700 beers in bottles and cans.

“As a beer lover, walk into ChurchKey and you’ll notice their attention to detail, from beer quality to service. You can thank a meticulous cleaning regimen for their taps, three unique temperature controls for service of beer, a large glassware selection and in-depth staff training. This, coupled with a constantly rotating selections and rare releases, makes ChurchKey a unique experience for beer lovers,” said CraftBeer.com.

The Brewers Association represents more than 5,200 small and independent craft breweries across the United States.
