Rocking Scots Frightened Rabbit are coming around for a handful of US headlining shows in the wake of the release of their fifth studio album Painting of a Panic Attack about a year ago on Atlantic Records. The band perform at 9:30 Club on Wednesday, May 31, and you can win tickets to go with Parklife DC.
The Line of Best Fit praised the latest album by Frightened Rabbit, as Chris Taylor wrote in a review: “The usual aching melancholy that has the capability to flip to captivating exuberance at a moment’s notice is ever present but [producer Aaron] Dessner’s experience with The National gives a whole new, often gloomy, depth to their sound.”
Lyricist Scott Hutchison (vocals, guitar) was inspired by loneliness in his move from Scotland to Los Angeles in writing the album, and he recorded it teamed with bandmates Grant Hutchison (drums), Billy Kennedy (guitar, bass), Andy Monaghan (guitar, keyboards), and Simon Liddell (guitar). The result is songs like “Get Out,” which The Line of Best Fit praises for “explosive shoegaze guitars that signal that fantastic chorus.”

“Get Out” sounds great
The Twist
I first heard of Frightened Rabbit in 2015, and I’ve loved them ever since. My favorite song would have to be “Swim Until You Can’t See Land.” Something about that song just gets to me every time!
Favorite song is “Swim Until You Can’t See Land”. It’s a great song about taking chances and is perfect to listen to anytime you need a bit more courage.
I’m trying.
I have consistently missed them over the years, so I do not know their music. Happily, I’m a fast learner.
