Los Angeles industrial band 3Teeth released their second album, shutdown.exe, via OMF Records on May 19, and their accompanying tour comes to U Street Music Hall on Friday, July 7.
Alexis Mincolla (vocals), Xavier Swafford (keys), Andrew Means (drums), and Chase Brawner (guitars) formed 3Teeth in 2013, inspired by “old school” industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. 3Teeth released their self-titled debut album in 2014.
For their new album, 3Teeth enlisted producer and mixer Sean Beavan, who previously worked with NIN, Marilyn Manson, A Perfect Circle, Slayer, and others. Howie Weinberg (Pantera, TOOL, Rammstein) mastered the album.
Watch the official music video for “Shutdown” by 3Teeth on YouTube:
“The album centers around the idea of shutting down consensus reality tunnels, which is a way to describe the generally agreed-upon perspectives of what is considered real,” said frontman Alexis.
AllMusic praised the results, with Neil Z. Yeung writing, “Exiting the dark dungeon club where they resided on their self-titled first effort, shutdown.exe expands the band’s sonic canvas to full cinematic scope, creating a brutal and unforgiving post-apocalyptic landscape that once again borrows the best of early-era Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Rammstein, and White Zombie (and, by lineage, forebears like Die Krupps, Front Line Assembly, and Laibach).”
