With the long, hot lazy days of summer surely finally approaching, what better way to spend a weekend than to lounge by the water and listen to music?
The fourth annual River and Roots Festival, hosted by Shepherds Ford Productions, affords you an opportunity to do just that along the Shenandoah River in Watermelon Park outside of Berryville, Virginia (not far from Winchester) on Friday, June 23, through Sunday, June 25 with a lineup of bluegrass, Americana, and roots musicians.
River and Roots Festival is a family-friendly affair that includes more than music -– visitors also enjoy dances, workshops, band and pickin’ contests, kid’s activities, open jams, food and craft Vendors, and more!
That said, River and Roots Festival offers some intriguing headliners this year in the form of We Banjo 3, a quartet from Galway, Ireland, who call their music “Celt grass,” and Michael Daves feat. Tony Trischka and Brittany Haas. Michael is a Grammy-nominated New York-based bluegrass, country, and rock musician who has proven quite unpredictable in his roots arrangements! For those of us looking for hometown sounds, performers also include DC’s own Black Masala, the always unique eight-piece Gypsy brass band.
