Conor Oberst released his eighth studio album, Salutations, via Nonesuch Records in March. He’s about to launch a tour this week, and he will arrive in DC for a show at 9:30 Club on Wednesday, July 26. You can win tickets to see him with Parklife DC.
Conor’s new album is a reworking of his previous album, Ruminations, where he gives bigger treatments to that album’s 10 songs and introduces seven more.
“If nothing else, Salutations is a fascinating look at the changes that come from collaboration and evolution in a studio setting versus the isolation in which these songs were born. Instead of relying solely on piano, acoustic guitar, and harmonica, Oberst and company employ accordions, organs, strings (of both the orchestral and fiddle varieties), and ethereal sound collage elements to build up these tracks and give them a unique character,” said Andrew Bloom in a review for Consequence of Sound.
