The Church

On Oct. 6, legendary Australian psych rockers The Church will release their 26th studio album, Man Woman Life Death Infinity, via Unorthodox Recordings. To mark the occasion, The Church embarked on a 29-date North American Tour, and frontman Steve Kilbey and company will perform at 9:30 Club on Sunday, Oct. 1. You can win tickets to go with Parklife DC.

The Church are best known in the United States for hits in the ’80s like “The Unguarded Moment” in 1981 and “Under the Milky Way” in 1988. But the prolific Mr. Kilbey and his bandmates have marked on under lineup changes to put out a remarkably consistent, elegant, and formidable body of work.

The new album maintains the consistency of The Church’s hallmark sound with dreamy vocals and resplendent guitars, all the while setting a transcendental mood. Watch the official music video for “Another Century” by The Church on YouTube:

  1. Reptile. Has to be. Metaphorically and symbolically. My boyfriend and I once bonded over this song because he, being from AZ, thought it was about a real, live snake. Also, really love the idea of Helio Sequence as an opener.
