Emily Haines, the always melodic lead singer of Metric, released Choir of the Mind, a solo album with her project The Soft Skeleton, in September via Last Gang Records/eOne. Emily launched a solo tour that arrives at Sixth and I Historic Synagogue on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Choir of the Mind is Emily’s first solo outing in 10 years, following up Knives Don’t Have Your Back (2006) and a companion EP What Is Free to a Good Home? (2007). Emily recently debuted the video for “Legend of the Wild Horse” from Choir of the Mind in W Magazine. And W Magazine said, “‘Legend of the Wild Horse’ has the slightly surreal quality of a fable, yet at the same time, it’s an authoritative statement about who wields power, and how.”

“Choir of the Mind… is a nuanced meditation on loss and injustice, and a stunning showcase for Ms. Haines’s vocal harmonies,” praised The New York Times.
Emily’s other solo recordings also focused on loss in particular, capturing inspiration from the loss of her father — writer, poet, and jazz lyricist Paul Haines. Now, Emily continues to ponder big questions of loss, life, and womanhood with Choir of the Mind.
