Laura Pergolizzi, better known as LP, released Lost on You, her fourth studio album, not long ago via BMG and Vagrant Records, and she’s touring with a sold-out show at 9:30 Club on Monday, March 5.

The 13 songs of Lost on You blend blues and soul through LP’s powerful voice. Mike Del Rio [Christina Aguilera, X Ambassadors] served as executive producer for the album, and Nate Campany [Tove Lo, Carly Rae Jepsen, Martin Garrix] co-wrote several tracks.

Upon its release in late 2016, the title track of the album became the #1 most Shazam’d song in the world, according to Shazam, the song-searching music app. Watch LP perform “Lost on You” live at the McKittrick Hotel in New York City in 2017 via YouTube:

InStyle hails LP’s “stunning vocals,” and Paper Magazine praises “precise songwriting prowess,” while Newsweek describes her voice as “reminiscent of the gravelly Johnny Cash.”

Parklife DC last caught LP locally at U Street Music Hall in July 2016, and we shared a few thoughts: “Do you like Chrissie Hynde? Patti Smith? Other unique, fearless women — who are have strong personalities but also strong pop sensibilities? Then if you don’t already know her, let me introduce you to singer-songwriter LP, born Laura Pergolizzi, a Los Angeles musician who has famously written songs for other artists ranging from the Backstreet Boys to Rihanna to Cher but is really best enjoyed as her ownself in a live show.”
