Back in 2013, my very musically advanced 13-year-old daughter shared a song with me that she had heard on a Spotify-curated playlist.  She instantly fell in love with this song, and she could not wait to share it with me.  I heard the song and said, “This song is great.  Who is this?  I need to look them up!”  The band was Wolf Alice, a new band out of London, and the song was “Bros.”

Fast forward to 2018, and I am watching Wolf Alice perform this song to a very enthusiastic and diverse crowd at Rams Head Live in Baltimore on Friday.  Following the performance, lead singer Ellie Rosswell commented that the band has performed this song countless times, but this time was one of the best!  Throughout the night, Rams Head was filled with Ellie’s powerful yet whispy vocals combined with voices from the crowd, who sang along to every song.

Highlights of the night included a strong third song, “You’re a Germ,” which fueled the energy in the crowd and set the tone for the night.  Two songs later, during “St. Purple and Green,” guitarist Joff Oddie tossed his guitar in the air, caught it, and continued on with the song.  The band put on a truly impressive performance.

Wolf Alice most recently published Visions of a Life, their second full-length album, in September via Dirty Hit, introducing us to songs like “St. Purple and Green” and “Don’t Delete the Kisses.”

The Big Pink opened for Wolf Alice and provided the perfect lead way to the main act.  Their lights were dark and dramatic with the occasional strobe lights and smoke — and their set was short but powerful.  Together, these two bands provided an excellent night of music at Rams Head Live!
