The Front Bottoms released Going Grey, their fourth full-length studio album, last year via Fueled By Ramen. The trio constantly have been touring since, and they hit The Anthem on Saturday, Nov. 24, with Manchester Orchestra.
In a press release, vocalist Brian Sella said, “I think that regarding the album, it’s just coming to terms with the fact there’s no choice about growing up. It’s neither good nor bad, happy or sad. It’s just what happens; I do have a lot of grey hair.” He then quoted a line from the new song “Everyone But You”: “‘It doesn’t get worse, it doesn’t get better / You just get old, and it lasts forever’…the world doesn’t stop turning, it’s just life.”

In a review for Exclaim, Luke Pearson praised how The Front Bottoms have matured on their latest record.
“Their plucky DIY aesthetic may be all but gone at this point, but the Front Bottoms have transitioned to the majors gracefully. Certain synth melodies might be a tad too sugary for some, but they bolster the top-notch songwriting on Going Grey, and Sella’s unique and unpredictable vocal phrasing keeps the proceedings distinctly Front Bottoms from start to finish,” Luke wrote.
