Swing revivalists Big Bad Voodoo Daddy are on tour this month, and the collective performs at The Birchmere on Thursday, March 28.
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy announced their tour on their website, noting it will be their 15th time playing at The Birchmere.
“March is here and we’re fixin’ to bring our Voodoo to a place near you. We’ve got some surprises in store, some Big Bad Voodoo music that hasn’t been seen, nor heard from, in ages. Some band favorites that have yet to have been played live. Have a favorite song that we recorded that you’re “Still in love” with, that you’ve never heard us play? We’d bet “Ol’ McDonald’s” Farm that there’s some tunes we’ve recorded that you’ve been waiting to hear us play live. “Some Things” get better with age and experience, revisiting these tunes is definitely one of them! “Next week, sometime,” we’ll be back on the road with a host of new tunes to choose from. We hope you come out and hear that one you’ve been waiting for!” the band said.

In 2018, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy celebrated its 25th anniversary as a band. It still features original core members Scotty Morris (lead vocals and guitar), Kurt Sodergren (drums), Dirk Shumaker (double bass and vocals), Andy Rowley (baritone saxophone and vocals), Glen “The Kid” Marhevka (trumpet), Karl Hunter (saxophones and clarinet), and Joshua Levy (piano and arranger). That’s some impressive longevity!
