Metal supergroup Hellyeah is touring in advance of releasing a new album, and the band stormed The Fillmore Silver Spring recently. Paivi Salonen was there to shoot the show.
The 2019 tour is Hellyeah’s first major tour following the death of drummer Vinnie Paul, who died of heart problems in June 2018. After a tribute conference celebrating Vinnie Paul’s life, Hellyeah announced it would release Welcome Home, the band’s sixth studio album, on Sept 27 via Eleven Seven Music.
Welcome Home, the highly anticipated new album featuring the late Vinnie Paul’s final recordings, will unleash 10 tracks, driven by their love, loyalty, reverence, and respect for their fallen brother. As bassist Kyle Sanders so succinctly stated: “While Vinnie Paul is obviously irreplaceable, one thing we can’t not do is tour. As easy as it would be to say we’re not going on the road, we have to. Vinnie would be extremely disappointed in us if we didn’t promote this record properly. He’d be pissed off at all of us for putting all this work into finishing the record and then just letting it sit there on the shelf while we put a couple of songs to radio and whatever… and we know that.”

On July 26, Hellyeah played three new songs — “Welcome Home,” “333,” and “Oh My God,” as well as two Pantera covers — “I’m Broken” and “Walk” — in tribute to Vinnie Paul.
The latest 18-city headlining summer tour will wrap in a special hometown celebration on Saturday, Aug. 17, in Dallas, Texas. Catch Hellyeah on the road through that date.
