Molly Burch took the stage at Songbyrd DC recently, and the Austin-based singer-songwriter instantly captivated the crowd with her soulful and alluring sound. Her dreamy vocals combined with the perfect mix of a soft and retro vibe for the 21st Century.

Molly’s range scaled both powerful and delicate notes at Songbyrd on Aug. 6. And Songbyrd provided the perfect intimate setting to truly enjoy Molly’s set. Molly traveled with the audience back in time with her unique sound into a modernized 1950s era. Her music got in deep into “sad girl” feelings — but in a good way.

Molly remained cool and composed even when belting out the chorus of “Please Be Mine” from her first album of the same title. At the end of the set, the crowd was lucky enough to listen to her most recent tracks from her EP Ballads. “Only You” was a tough break-up song with a chorus that will get stuck in your head for days. This song was one of the highlights of her set.

Is that why you went away
Before I, before I could say
Why’d you stop loving me?
