Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats team up with Gary Clark Jr. for a performance, one night only, at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Sunday, Aug. 25.
The joint performance comes in the midst of extensive summer touring plans for both acts. In February, Gary Clark Jr. released This Land, his third studio record, via Warner Brothers Records, and he has spent most of the year on the road. Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats most recently published Tearing at the Seams in 2018 via Stax Records.

In a review for Pitchfork, Stephen Thomas Erlewine said Gary Clark Jr. successfully moves beyond the confines of “modern blues.”
“The album may be informed by old sounds and forms, yet these familiar tropes feel fresh thanks to Clark’s idiosyncratic splicing — a cross-cultural, pan-genre sensibility that speaks to the modern world as a whole, just as ‘This Land’ speaks to this individual moment,” Stephen wrote.
And Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats? In a review for PopMatters, Christopher Thiessen praises the band’s revival of ’60s soul sounds.
“On Tearing at the Seams, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats show off their hard work, their tightening as a band, and their high energy, irresistible performances. And if all those improvements from their debut to the present is any indication of their trajectory, it’s easy to be optimistic about their future,” Christopher wrote.
Go early for Americana singer-songwriter Nicole Atkins, who is opening — you won’t regret it!
