With much of the world practicing social distancing and self quarantine, musicians are stepping up to help fill the time that many of us suddenly have on our hands. Some are jumping on Instagram or Facebook live and playing to their fans from the comfort of their living room. Others are diving into their archives and looking back on their past performances.

Thrash metal icons Metallica have joined in to help the cause with Metallica Mondays, the next edition of which appears on YouTube on Monday, March 30.

Every Monday night at 8pm ET, Metallica live stream a past concert of theirs in its entirety on both Facebook and their YouTube channel.

Launching on March 23, Metallica started the series off with their June 8, 2019 performance “Metallica: Live at Slane Castle,” from Meath, Ireland. Over the course of a nearly two and a half hour set, the band plays songs from their latest album, “Hardwired… to Self Destruct,” to all the way back to their first record, “Kill ‘Em All,” and nearly every album in between.

In addition to helping to be an escape from the new normal of isolation, Metallica are hoping to help out those effected by the coronavirus. On their YouTube page, there is a donation button to their All Within My Hands foundation so people can “…help address food insecurities and medical supply shortages during the current Covid-19 crisis.”

When Metallica is on tour, the band regularly puts highly produced videos of their performances up on their social media accounts. If these one song snippets are any indication of what is to come, fans can expect to see a run of high definition, excellently shot and edited concerts, full of Metallica’s classic hits and deep cuts.
