Songbyrd Music House’s Caged Byrd Series, features two local artists this Thursday, April 9, via Instragram. Elizabeth II and Cat Janice will perform acoustic versions of their original songs, some covers, and possibly a few requests.
Elizabeth II, based in DC, is Beth Cannon’s musical project featuring her intense and imaginative guitar work along with a high-energy, punchy band. The band has been described as “an eclectic Stevie Nicks nostalgia blended with a new age youthful edge, Elizabeth II combines thunderous vocals with bluesy guitar riffs driven by pulsating rhythms.” However, the acoustic performance on the April 9 promises to reveal a different side of Ms. Cannon’s repertoire.

Another DC-based musician, Cat Janice’s strong connection to music started when she learned to play violin and piano at an early age. Today, she fronts her own band with her soulful, jazzy, and unique vocals; a style sometimes compared to Amy Winehouse or Alice Merton. Cat has also been nominated for three local Wammie Awards in the best rock artist, best song, and best pop song categories.
