Voting for the 2021 Wammie Awards has officially begun. Residents of DC, Maryland, and Virginia can now vote for their favorite local artists and musicians for a 2021 Wammie Award. Nominations are still open through Jan. 31, so music lovers can both vote and nominate through the end of January.
The MusicianShip has officially set a date for its second virtual Wammie Awards celebration. Local music fans and aficionados can tune in on March 28 at 6pm to WammiesDC.org to see which artists/groups, albums, and songs take the top prizes for 2021. The MusicianShip will also deliver General Interest Awards that gauge community impact around the region in education, advocacy, and community service. The show will feature a Virtual Red Carpet, interviews with the 2021 finalists, and even a Virtual After Party to celebrate the 2021 Winners.
“We’re thrilled to host our second virtual Wammie Awards Show. Last year was an incredible success, and we’re planning even more innovative and dynamic content for our audience this year. We’re excited to use this platform to celebrate the amazing contributions of our local musicians and industry professionals,” said Jeffery Tribble, Jr., Executive Director of The MusicianShip.
Wammie Awards programming is provided by The MusicianShip, a DC-based nonprofit that is focused on ‘Changing Lives with Music’. Proceeds from the Wammie Awards help support The MusicianShip’s free-of-charge music programs that serve over 1600 youth and continues to be a resource for local DC artists and musicians. In addition to the Wammie Awards, The MusicianShip oversees the DC Funk Parade and The Washington Youth Choir.
