Rickie Lee Jones flew into Maryland a few days prior to her gig at Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis, and she first made an apparent stop in Bethesda.
A dance instructor here reported Rickie Lee dropped by the city’s famed Hank Dietle’s Tavern and lent a hand to teaching a two-step dance lesson. Could you imagine turning up at Hank Dietle’s one random night and taking a dance lesson with none other than the Duchess of Coolsville?
Well, even rock royalty has a job to do, and Rickie Lee entertained thoroughly at the Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis on March 1. While we don’t have her setlist, there is little down in our slice of the blogosphere that Rickie performed her most loved songs — “Weasel and the White Boys Cool,” “We Belong Together,” “Chuck E’s in Love,” and of course “The Last Chance Texaco,” a song whose title she lent to a memoir she published last year.

In Annapolis, Rickie was engaging while switching between background stories for her songs and passing time with hilarious tangents and side stories, which often gave the audience a good laugh, reports photographer Jason Nicholson. His photos truly capture her wonderful smile, good nature, and eagerness to laugh.
