Few artists have the star power to pack out an 82,000 stadium seat venue like Canadian-born masked singer-songwriter The Weeknd. With all of his feels and theatrics in tow, he’s made a super successful career on a bigger than life persona.
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye (The Weeknd) burst onto the music scene with a slew of popular mixtapes that helped him quickly gain a loyal, unwavering fan base. His enigmatic records can best be described as romantic and dark often inspired by his own personal experiences. A journey that has led him to numerous accolades, including four Grammy Awards and 20 Billboard Music Awards,… and now to FedEx field for a concert spectacular!

On Saturday, at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, it was the perfect time and place to take part in his stadium-filled extravaganza for The Weeknd’s After Hours till Dawn Tour. As bands of light and fog rose high above the open air stadium, chants of “Abel, Abel, Abel” could be heard echoing from all around.
A gigantic lit-up replica of our lunar Moon sat pensively at the end of the catwalk while, as if from the depths of a city on fire, The Weeknd elevated above the stage. Mysterious figures draped in red textiles only added layers of complexity to the already fanciful performance.
Through an emotional night of our heartstrings being tugged in every direction we found shock and awe at what has become a master class in the performing arts. Generations of music fans and artists to come will hopefully take note.
