Eivør Pálsdóttir, known to audiences as Eivør, visited The Fillmore Silver Spring recently on her first-ever proper North American Tour. Katherine Gaines was there to photograph the performance.
Many American folks know Eivør’s music through her contributions to the 2018 video game soundtrack to God of War. She also contributed vocals to the Netflix television series The Last Kingdom.
Based in Copenhagen, Eivør released her last studio album, Segl (or “Sail” in Faroese) in 2020. In concert at The Fillmore Silver Spring on July 30, she drew more than half her setlist from that album. She has begun recent concerts with the majestic and emotive “Mánasegl” from Segl, for example.
Watch perform “Mánasegl” live at Nordic House, Faroe Islands, in Sepember 2020 on YouTube:
For AllMusic, James Christopher Monger wrote the songs of Segl are often “veering into Eurovision territory with a cavalcade of hard-hitting earworms, but an overabundance of cinematic ballads.” Monger further said that Eivør is capable of “widescreen synth pop stunners,” and the audience at The Fillmore Silver Spring certainly agreed.
Eivør still has some US dates in August! Catch her near you!
