Kathy Yaeji Lee, better known as simply Yaeji, released her debut full-length album, With a Hammer, in April via XL Recordings. The Korean-American musician has embarked on a world tour this year, and she stopped by 9:30 Club in DC on May 5.

Yaeji’s new studio album follows a 2020 mixtape, What We Drew, and two 2017 EPs, Yaeji and EP2. The New York City-born house artist gained some attention with her early singles “Drink I’m Sipping On” and “Raingurl.”
Now back to perform songs from her full-length record, Yaeji sold out 9:30 Club for her show on May 5. According to Setlist.fm, Yaeji performed 16 songs, allocating nine songs from With a Hammer to the show. She opened with the album’s “Submerge FM.” She played the album’s title track at the one-quarter mark, and she closed the main set with “Done (Let’s Get It).”

Yaeji also added those popular early singles to her setlist, performing “Raingurl” toward the end of the show and closing her encore with “Drink I’m Sipping On.”
