Guitarist Anders Osborne has been making some rounds lately, and he landed at Rams Head on Stage in Annapolis, Maryland, for a show. Steve Satzberg was there to photograph him!
At Rams Head on Stage on July 30, Anders performed 17 songs, drawing three of them from his latest album, Orpheus and the Mermaids, released in 2021 via 5th Ward Records. He spread those three songs throughout his set, picking “Earthly Things” and “Jacksonville to Wichita” early and then playing “Welcome to Earth” a little later.
Anders closed his main set with fan favorite “Summertime in New Orleans,” which appears on his album Coming Down (2007).

In his encore, Anders performed “Lafayette” from Spacedust & Ocean Views (2016), and he began the encore with a cover of “Big Boss Man” — apparently his cover of a song by the Grateful Dead. Anders has only played this song a few times, according to Setlist.fm, but he recorded it for a Dead tribute album, The Blues Tribute to the Grateful Dead, back in 2001.
Anders Osborne hits the road this fall. Check his website for tourdates!
