Sensational Canadian rockers The Beaches recently played a sold-out show at DC’s 9:30 Club — and they are currently on a US tour in support of their latest album, No Hard Feelings.
At 9:30 Club on Sept. 25, The Beaches played a nearly two-hour show for the highly supportive fans. The band is made up of Jordan Miller on lead vocals, Leandra Earl on lead guitar, Kylie Miller on bass, and Eliza Enman-McDaniel on drums! They were in great form throughout the coccert as they played hits from the past while focusing on their recently released album.
However, before The Beaches took the stage, Debbii Dawson opened up the show with a fantastic 30-minute opening set. Dawson, a pop singer who appeared on America’s Got Talent a few years ago, played with great enthusiasm — displaying why her vocal ability, which received such praise on the TV show back in 2022. She is currently opening The Beaches on several dates of this current tour, including dates at Webster Hall in New York City on Sept. 29-30.

The Beaches opened the show with the upbeat, dance-infused “Last Girls at the Party,” which is a fun, pop-rock song. It definitely helped set the tone of the next two hours, which consisted of great vocals, dance and indie rock music from one of the finest all-girl bands on the scene at this time. The band worked extremely well together, crafting their unique sound with a heavy influence of pop, rock and dance sounds. Jordan Miller has her own unique vocal sound, which seems to draw a lot from her Canadian roots. And the band has an avant-garde feel with their progressive musical beat and intelligent lyrics.
At 9:30 Club, The Beaches also conversed well with the audience during the show, even bringing one female attendee on stage to share a story before delving into “Did I Say Too Much.” Some of the highlights from the show included “Edge of the Earth” and “Jocelyn” before the band finished with a superb version of arguably the best song in their catalog — “Blame Brett,” in which the band asked the audience if anyone was going through a tough relationship or heartbreak. Discussions of boyfriends and relationships were one of the main themes of the evening of great music and always will be part of a Beaches set it seems.

The Beaches took the customary 2-5 minute break and finished with a great encore of “I Wore You Better,” “Sorry For Your Loss,” and finally a second helping of “Last Girls at the Party.”
If you haven’t seen The Beaches, this is a good time to see the band. The Beaches are a great band with unlimited potential for great music and upbeat, catchy songs. I would hope to see a live album offering in the future.
