There are concerts, and then there are full-blown theatrical experiences — and on a recent night in Washington, DC, The Last Dinner Party delivered something closer to the latter at The Anthem. In fact, at times, the show felt less like a setlist and more like a narrative unfolding in real time.
Hailing from the UK, The Last Dinner Party is a five-person band that played their very first US show at DC’s Atlantis in 2023. The band consists of Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass), and Aurora Nishevci (keyboards, vocals).
Due to injury, Georgia Davies was not present. The band dedicated “On Your Side” to Georgia as well as anyone who went to their first US show in 2023.
The crowd was fully locked in. A sea of lace, leather, and other dramatic outfits mirrored the band’s own aesthetic, turning the entire room into part of the performance. Fans from the barricade to the balcony sang along throughout the evening.

Lead singer Abigail Morris moves like someone fully aware she’s at the center of a narrative. She doesn’t just sing, she dances, twirls, prowls, and commands, her voice cutting cleanly through the cavernous space. There’s a deliberate theatricality to everything she does, but it never reads as forced. Instead, it feels necessary, like the songs demand that level of embodiment.
Around her, the band operates with striking cohesion. Guitar lines swell and crash with cinematic precision, keys shimmer in the background, and harmonies stack into something almost choral. Live, their music loses some of its studio polish — but gains urgency. It breathes, stretches, and occasionally teeters on chaos in a way that makes it impossible to look away.
Before The Last Dinner Party’s set, Florence Road took the stage to get the night started. The Irish rock band consists of lead singer and guitarist Lily Aron, guitarist Emma Brandon, bassist Ailbhe Barry, and drummer Hannah Kelly. They gained popularity on TikTok and previously opened for Olivia Rodrigo on tour.
