INJI, the 25-year-old Turkish pop star on the rise, brought the final night of her Superlame Tour to the 9:30 Club. Hailing from Istanbul, INJI, born İnci Gürün, made her way to Philadelphia to study finance. Her life drastically changed when her debut single, “Gaslight,” went viral on TikTok in 2022. Her follow-up, “Madeline,” only grew her popularity, and the people demanded more. The relatable, casual lyrics of her songs, paired with infectious club beats, made her a new face in dance-pop that would be impossible to ignore.
Her debut EP, LFG, was released in July 2023, and she subsequently joined Disco Lines on a fall tour. INJI performed as an opener at the 9:30 Club in 2023, headlined The Atlantis in 2024, and finally returned to the 9:30 Club as a headliner supporting her debut album, Superlame (2025).
At 9:30 Club on June 14, the night opened with a DJ set from Mayv. Her performance successfully hyped up the crowd and kept them moving throughout her 45 minutes onstage.
INJI emerged in an explosion of strobe lights. Dressed in a hoodie, sunglasses, baggy low-rise shorts, and high-top sneakers, her aura exuded cool confidence. She kicked things off with the banger “Teen Angst,” which playfully acknowledges that she is “almost twenty-five” and, in fact, not a teenager. INJI then shed the hoodie and launched into “All I Wanna Do,” which plays into her nonchalant, cool-girl energy.
“Madeline,” her second viral hit about a messy but lovable friend on a night out, is a personal favorite of mine. It’s a fun party anthem for the girls, gays, and theys: “All the girls and the gals and the boys and the lads. All the shots and the pints and the pills and the tabs. Take a walk, have a cig, give a kiss, get a cab” is so infectiously catchy.

“Untz Untz,” another track from LFG, is simple yet effective with its message: “All I wanna hear is untz-untz-untz-untz-untz-untz. DJ make the bass go boom, boom, boom, boom.” It’s perfect to dance to while having a gab with friends. “Istanbul,” from Superlame, shouts out her home city and references Doechii’s “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” with the lyrics: “Hi, my name’s INJI with two I’s. I like parties but I don’t get high.”
INJI proclaimed she would be performing songs from Superlame, beginning with “Bodega.” It’s a post-night-out anthem that deals with the hangxiety of the morning after but ultimately decides to do it all again. Its chantable call-and-response elements make for a great live experience. “In a Mood” was originally released on the EP of the same name before being included on Superlame. It’s a post-breakup, going-out song that perfectly fits the album’s aesthetic.
INJI awed over how cute the crowd was and excitedly announced the release of a new song, “I Wanna Feel It All.” She said, “We’re gonna sing it, and you’re gonna learn it.” It was easy to catch on to, with a hook full of “yeahs” that I still can’t get out of my head. She followed it with “Kissin My Friends,” her collaboration with DJ and producer Marshmello. INJI then dedicated Dillon Francis’ “Pretty People” to her audience.
The vibe shifted dramatically when INJI performed an unreleased song solo on the keyboard. She asked the crowd to raise their phone lights and embrace the vulnerable moment. Afterwards, INJI said, “This song goes out to a very special ex-boyfriend of mine. Maybe you know his name,” before amping the party back up with the Superlame breakup track “Jeffrey.”
INJI kept the pace up with “Bellydancing,” her 2023 single. She fastened a blue sash adorned with tiered metallic ornaments across her hips and instructed the crowd to put their hands above their heads and move with her.
“U WON’T!” is a punchy, sassy song with heavy dubstep influences. It calls out false promises from a romantic interest, making it ideal to scream along to: “Don’t say that shit, ’cause you won’t.” The pounding bass paired with the strobe lighting transformed the 9:30 Club into a headbanging rave.

Regarding “Good Time Girl,” INJI says, “We need a change in the DJ booth — it’s time for the girls to take over. The guy-in-a-black-T-shirt vibe is getting old. I want to bring laughter, color, dancing, sweating, shouting, and ass shaking back” (Out Now, 2025). She instructed the crowd to repeat the lyrics after her to get them hyped. “Good Time Girl” feels heavily inspired by Charli XCX’s Brat (2024), and I think it has the potential to become a dance-floor staple alongside “U WON’T.”
The penultimate song of the set was a cover of Estelle’s “American Boy,” the 2008 pop hit that everyone knows the chorus to. INJI and her drummer took a swig of Grey Goose vodka before she said, “This one’s a cover … I think you know it.”
INJI closed her set with “Gaslight.” Before performing it, she told the story of moving to the United States to earn a finance degree and become a banker.
“While in school, I make a song as a joke for fun and I put it on the internet, and you guys really like it. It’s called ‘Gaslight.’ It was a complete coincidence if you didn’t know. It goes viral overnight, and then randomly I become an artist. YOU guys changed my entire life.”
INJI poured out gratitude for the crowd and proclaimed, “I wish I could be best friends with all of you. This has been an incredible tour.” “Gaslight” feels heavily inspired by the tongue-in-cheek lyricism of Sofi Tukker.
It’s safe to say that INJI won’t be banking anytime soon. The Superlame Tour may have concluded, but INJI has festival appearances at Electric Forest and Lollapalooza this summer and will join Sofi Tukker at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre this fall.
