The second annual installment of the rebranded All Good Now Festival transformed the historical, wooded grounds of Merriweather Post Pavilion into a sprawling celebration of jam, funk, and legendary music the weekend of June 13-14. At its core it successfully shared the spirit of the old-school, grassroots camping festival into a premier modern amphitheater, the two-day event offering a vision blurring 2 days of contained genre-blurring jams and pure community vibes.
Saturday began with an eclectic, high-energy tone early under the Chrysalis stage with an opening set from Baltimore native Cris Jacobs. Early highlights included a shimmering, hypnotic set from Colombian-American psych-trio BALTHVS, while The Hip Abduction kept the afternoon pacing effortlessly with their signature blend of sun-soaked, reggae-infused indie rock. Later that afternoon a masterclass in Grateful Dead lore from Dark Star Orchestra rounded things out along with a heavy dose of future-funk from Lettuce. Next on the main stage we moved into a heavy, late-afternoon set from Greensky Bluegrass that had the entire hill singing along with their many known hits. By the time headliners Widespread Panic took the main stage for their first of two weekend-closing performances, a muddy audio mix threatened the start, but the veteran jammers quickly dialed it in, unleashing a sonic tsunami that locked the packed crowd into a collective groove through one of the heaviest and darkest sets many fans have ever heard them play.

Sunday raised the stakes even higher despite a mix of summer heat and threat of passing rain, packing the day two slate with a relentless, rotation of incredible talent. The Main Squeeze opened the day by taking everyone to church with their soul-baring funk. Andy Frasco & The UN tore through a characteristically wild, chaotic party set before Leftover Salmon got old jammers and newcomers alike dancing early with their “polyethnic Cajun slamgrass.” This paved the way for stunning afternoon by Larkin Poe who injected a fierce, blues-rock grit into the late afternoon air. The Wood Brothers then took the late-afternoon crowd on a stellar, soulful ride, striking an effortless balance between roots-heavy grooves and Americana storytelling. A massive focal point for the crowd was Les Claypool’s “Claypool Gold” supergroup—a mind-bending, theatrical fusion featuring 3 sets showcasing the singular forces of Primus, the Frog Brigade, and The Claypool Lennon Delirium that pushed the venue’s pristine acoustics to their absolute limit. Each set was a masterclass in musicianship and originality that has continued each group’s cult followings throughout the years.
Artist-at-large Jennifer Hartswick threaded the needle through the entire weekend, popping up with her powerhouse trumpet and vocals across multiple sets to keep the energy unpredictable and collaborative. Widespread Panic returned to anchor Sunday night, delivering a pristine, hard-hitting final performance that left no doubt that the All Good spirit is alive, well, and exactly where it needs to be.
