Jess Chase’s Unemployment Tour arrives at Death Punch in Adams Morgan on June 25, 2026. After starting in Tokyo, Japan, continuing in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, Jess and her All Girl Band finish up on the east coast with stops in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New York.

On June 5th, ParklifeDC caught up with Jess at the beginning of the tour in Bellingham, Washington, at Honey Moon Mead and Cider and got a chance see the indie pop/rock multi-instrumentalist with her band, Amelia Murray (bass), Tia Dizon (guitar) and Max Muray (drums). Performing songs from her 2024 EP, Carnage, a Natasha Bedingfield cover, and several new tunes, Jess wowed the crowd with her piano and guitar playing and powerful vocals. Though Bellingham’s Honey Moon Mead and Cider is a cozy, intimate music venue, Jess delivered her big sound without blowing out eardrums.

Watch the official music video for “Hex Gurl” by Jess Chase on YouTube:

Originally from Tacoma, Washington, Jess is now based out of New York City. She credits Grizzly Bear and Mitski as inspirations but is blazing her own musical path. After initially majoring in singing at the Tacoma School of the Arts, she soon switched to songwriting. Upon the release of Carnage, Jess told the Luna Collective, “[I learned] a certain type of songwriting style approach that really spoke to me and it made me way better at music. I had always been really into music and I always made-up songs as a kid but it gave me a structure in which I could evoke certain emotions if I use certain chord progressions.”

That knack for songwriting and performing is clear today. Come hear Jess’s self-described “confessional-style songs that blend intimate singer-songwriter storytelling with experimental electronic textures” at Death Punch bar on Thursday, June 25th.
