Plush came to Harrisburg ready to make some noise.
The rock trio took over Capital City Music Hall on August 23, bringing a hard-hitting set to the downtown venue on North 2nd Street. It’s the kind of close-up room where a band can’t hide behind a massive production. There are guitars, drums, vocals and a crowd packed close to the stage.
For Plush, that was more than enough.
The Harrisburg stop came during a busy stretch for the band as it crossed the country on the Mass Hysteria Tour, with Major Moment, Observe the 93rd and Chris Scheler also on the bill.
By the time Plush took the stage, the room had the feel of a proper rock show. No elaborate tricks were necessary — just volume, attitude and three musicians who understand how to push a song without losing control of it.
Plush opened with “Champion,” wasting no time putting its strengths on display. Moriah Formica’s powerhouse vocals cut through a thick guitar attack, while bassist Ashley Suppa and drummer Faith Powell supplied a rhythm section with plenty of muscle.
“Athena” and “Left Behind” followed. The songs have different personalities, but Plush handled both with the same confidence. There’s a hard-rock backbone to the band’s sound, but enough melody to keep the music from becoming an indistinguishable wall of volume. Plush can hit hard without sacrificing the hook.

By “Hope It Hurts,” the room was starting to feel less like a Sunday night and more like Friday at midnight.
The band kept the pace tight through “Run,” “Sober” and “Found a Way,” with little wasted motion between songs. Plush came to play, and the set moved accordingly.
“Mass Hysteria” delivered one of the night’s biggest punches. The title track from the band’s upcoming album could almost have doubled as a description of the room once it kicked in.
It also demonstrated how comfortably Plush can move between melody and muscle. The guitars carried plenty of grit, while Formica’s vocals stayed front and center — no small feat in an intimate club, where turning up the volume can quickly swallow any sense of clarity.
Then came a welcome curveball: “Where Is My Mind?”
Plush’s take on the Pixies classic gave the trio an opportunity to put its own stamp on familiar material without simply reproducing the original. Surprisingly, the song slid naturally into the heavier set.
“Severance” kept things weighty before “Will Not Win” and “I Don’t Care” kicked the energy back up. By then, there was little doubt what kind of night Plush had brought to Harrisburg.
Loud. Sweaty. And very good.
The band’s latest single, “Animalistic,” offered another highlight as the main set approached its finish. It’s the sort of song built for a live room, where the beat hits harder when a crowd is moving along with it.

Then Plush walked offstage.
Naturally, the trio wasn’t gone for long.
Plush returned for “Hate,” a fitting final blast that left the room buzzing instead of easing toward a gentle conclusion. There was no need for an elaborate farewell. The song did the job.
For a band built around modern hard rock, Plush looked perfectly at home at Capital City Music Hall. With the crowd close, the guitars loud and little distance separating the musicians from the people in front of them, the setting played directly to the band’s strengths.
On this Sunday night in Harrisburg, Plush made the most of it.
