There is nothing quite like seeing the eternally youthful Tim Burgess, frontman of The Charlatans UK, bound about a stage, which he did with exuberance in performance with his band at U Street Music Hall on Oct. 2. Jason Nicholson was there to capture the action!
The Charlatans UK arrived in DC on a wave of catchy new Britpop with the release of a new EP, Totally Eclipsing, on June 8, *and* their latest full-length, 2017’s Different Days.
Tim dropped by U Street Music Hall with Martin Blunt (bassist), Mark Collins (guitarist), Tony Rogers (keyboards), and a touring drummer. They opened the show with “Totally Eclipsing” and soon also played “Different Days.” Modern Nature, their 12th studio album from 2015, dominated the show with six songs, and the band reached back to 1990 and their very first album, Some Friendly, for evergreen favorites “The Only One I Know” and “Sproston Green.”

The Charlatans have left these American shores for Europe, but the indefatigable Tim and company show no signs of slowing down, so don’t miss them when they return in a few short years!
